Thinking Out Loud Saturday Sports: Earleywine talks about the 2015 softball season

University of Missouri softball coach Ehren Earleywine is looking forward to a strong year from the pitching staff.

Missouri fielded a very young softball team last year and most of the team returns this year. KBIA Sports Director Darren Hellwege has a long conversation with Missouri softball coach Ehren Earleywine about what he thinks could be a really good 2015 season for the team, highlighted by depth at the pitching position.

Darren Hellwege logoThe team’s annual Black and Gold game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7 in Columbia. The team then hits the road for several weeks before its home opener on Wednesday, March 11, a double-header against Southeast Missouri State University.

Keith Shamburger’s long road to Missouri

The University of Missouri wasn’t the first collegiate home for everyone on the men’s basketball team. Several have transferred from across the country, but none more than Keith Shamburger. Shamburger, a redshirt senior, is now on his third college team and it has been a long ride. KBIA Sports Tim Leible tells the story of how Shamburger found a home in Columbia.

Young Mizzou women’s basketball team hopeful for better season

Darren Hellwege logoThe start of Missouri basketball seasons is less than two weeks away and expectations are high, as they are at the start of every season. The women’s team finished the season 17-14 overall and 6-10 in the Southeastern Conference.

The team is still young, having just two seniors, only one of whom is a starter.

After suffering an ankle injury early in the game against Central Florida, Missouri guard Anthony Gatti continued to play.
