Tiger freshman Clark wins Player of the Week honor

Missouri midfielder Kaitlyn Clark was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week after her tie-breaking goal against Louisiana State Friday at Walton Stadium.

Clark scored her first collegiate goal in the 61st minute, which proved to be the game winner in the Tigers’ 3-1 win over LSU. Clark had an assist on Missouri’s first goal, a pass through the box that Reagan Russell put in the net.

The Tigers have had consecutive weeks of individual conference awards. A week ago, Taylor Grant received SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Missouri resumes conference play Friday in Columbia, South Carolina against South Carolina at 5 p.m.

Also receiving conference player of the week awards were a pair of Texas A&M Aggies: Shea Groom (Offensive POTW) and Karlie Mueller (Defensive POTW). Groom, who like Clark hails from Liberty, Missouri, recorded a hat trick in the Aggies’ 3-0 win over Tennessee on Thursday. Mueller had an assist for Texas A&M and helped a defense that allowed just two shots on goal.
