The Southeastern Conference announced Missouri’s Taylor Grant as its Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Grant scored game-winning goals in victories over Montana and Cal State-Northridge on Friday and Sunday, respectively. The senior forward from The Colony, Texas has set a career best this season with six goals scored.
Grant has been one of the Tigers’ most consistent offensive threats this year. She totaled 10 shots with five on goal during Missouri’s two wins this past week. In Missouri’s comeback victory over Montana on Friday, the Tigers scored three unanswered goals after falling behind 3-1. Clark buried a shot in the 105th minute to give her team the win and coach Bryan Blitz his 200th career victory at Missouri. Grant struck again Sunday against CSUN in the 55th minute on an assist from fellow-senior Kaysie Clark.
The weekly award is the first for Grant, and she is tied for second in the SEC in goals scored this season. Grant and the Tigers (5-1-2) are third in the SEC’s Eastern Division standings, trailing only Georgia and South Carolina.
Missouri opens SEC play Friday when it hosts LSU at 6:30 p.m.
