Georgia took control with the first pitch. Anna Swafford stepped up to the plate and hit Tori Finucane’s first pitch into right field. After losing two games to the Tigers, Georgia played like a team trying to save face. The Bulldogs would score in that inning on the way to a 6-2 win over Missouri in the third game of the conference series.

The Bulldogs were seeing Finucane’s pitches very well and by the end of the second inning had put together four runs including a home run from Alex Hugo.

Missouri’s Casey Stangel, who had started in right field, came in to relieve Finucane in the fifth. Missouri’s offense wasn’t able to support its starting pitcher, putting together just enough offense to chalk up two runs in that inning but that was it for the game.

Both Sami Fagan and Ashtin Stephens had two hits, Fagan also drove in Missouri’s two runs. Taylor Gadbois broke her 29-game hitting streak, going 0-4 at the plate.

Finucane took the loss, posting a 2.23 ERA and taking her record to 10-5.

Missouri now stands at 25-9 overall and 4-5 in the Southeastern Conference. The Tigers are scheduled for a three-game weekend series against Mississippi State starting Friday. The next home game is a scheduled double header against Western Illinois on Wednesday, April 9.
