Senior guard Sydney Crafton’s 19 points led Missouri to a hard-fought, 70-61 win over the Western Illinois Leathernecks

The Tigers struggled to score in the first half, shooting less than 40 percent from the floor and hitting only one shot beyond the arc on 10 attempts. After leading by only five points at half time, they held off Western Illinois and outscored them 39-35 in the second half.

Sharp-shooter Morgan Eye shot 12 points by hitting four 3-pointers.

Freshman guard Lianna Doty earned six steals, provided eight assists and contributed 14 points.  This game was Doty’s first time first time running the floor as point guard.  Kyley Simmons, last year’s point guard, moved into the off point position.

Western Illinois’ leading scorer Charnelle Reed shot 19 points off the bench. The Leathernecks fell to 1-2 overall, while Missouri improves to 3-0.

Missouri travels to Cancun for the Cancun Challenge to play their next three games.
