Mizzou soccer team beats Kentucky, advances to SEC semis

The Missouri soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the SEC Tournament after defeating Kentucky 2-1 on Wednesday.

Senior Hayley Krentz scored the game’s first goal in the 26th minute off of a pass from fellow senior Taiwo Adeshigbin. This is the third goal of the season for Krentz and Adeshigbin’s second assist.

Shortly after the Tigers made their first goal of the game, sophomore Kaysie Clark sent the ball out wide to Krentz, who shot the ball into the box. Junior Alyssa Diggs got the pass and made her eighth goal of the year, taking a 2-0 lead for Missouri.

Kentucky junior Caitlin Landis scored in the 73rd minute, but Missouri’s sophomore goalkeeper McKenzie Sauerwein, who made nine saves, held firm for a 2-1 victory.

Missouri faces Florida in the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 2 at 6:30 p.m.
