Missouri breaks out, sweeps Columbia, Highland Friday

The Missouri softball team kicked off their fall schedule with a pair of wins Friday afternoon. The Tigers shut out Columbia College 7-0 behind the pitching of Chelsea Thomas and then topped Highland Community College 7-3.

Thomas threw a complete game shutout, throwing 65 pitches while allowing one walk and striking out nine.

Senior Lindsey Muller picked up the win against Highland, giving up only one run in two innings of relief.

Freshman Emily Crane had the biggest day for the Tigers offensively, with six hits and three doubles on the day.

The Tigers will continue their fall schedule with another doubleheader next Friday. Missouri will take on Mineral Area College at 3:30 p.m. and then Central Methodist University at 5:30 p.m.
