Mizzou breaks win streak with 13-7 loss to High Point

By Kevin Donnellan

Missouri had its 10 game winning streak broken Sunday in the final game of the three game series with High Point, losing 13-7. Starting pitcher Brandon Platts struggled at the mound, giving up five hits and five runs during his one and one-third innings. Jeff Emens came in and the senior immediately gave up a single followed by a home run to leave the Tigers trailing by seven going into the bottom of the second. Missouri closed the gap to five in the seventh with unearned runs from Conner Mach, Scott Sommerfeld and Ben Turner, but that was as good as it got for Missouri with High Point scoring four in the eighth. A home run in the ninth from Blake Brown, his fourth of the week, left the final score 13-7. Missouri is now 12-6 for the season. The Tigers continue its 19-game home stretch against Indiana State on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
