VIDEO: Mike Anderson discusses social media with the media

Maybe the media should credit Mike Anderson with an assist, even though it’s been decades since his playing career ended.

At Anderson’s media day press conference Tuesday, Anderson told members of the media that athletes—specifically, his players—using twitter and Facebook are going to take the jobs of us media members someday.

After all, what’s the point of interviews if you can get a player’s thoughts on a game straight from them on a social media site?

For the sake of media members across the nation, let’s hope Anderson is wrong. But that he banned his players from using twitter—most notably, Kim English, who Anderson “had a conversation with” regarding him no longer tweeting—means that even if his theory is right, the media covering Mizzou won’t have to worry about being displaced anytime soon.

Anderson got on the topic of social media when asked about some highlight-reel dunks by his incoming players featured on YouTube (for example, Phil Pressey’s spectacular dunk over Tony Mitchell).
