PHOTOS: Missouri basketball open scrimmage

A few thoughts from underneath the basket at Missouri basketball’s open scrimmage Saturday afternoon:

  • Marcus Denmon showed his usual tantalizing streakiness, as he went through a stretch where he couldn’t miss from any distance. He and Michael Dixon were the two most impressive players on the offensive side of the ball.
  • Speaking of Dixon—if Saturday is any indication, he’s not in any danger of losing his spot in the starting lineup to Phil Pressey. Dixon showed his usual quickness and finished a number of impressive layups while knocking down his fair share of jumpers, too. That’s not a knock on Pressey—who showed impressive quickness as well—but more a compliment to Dixon.
  • Justin Safford moved pretty well for a guy who had ACL surgery six and a half months ago. His jumper looked smooth—he didn’t have any problems with elevation in that regard.
